Simple question, really! Mouse button question...

Ok, so I been on Ubuntu for several months now. Love it but have had the occasional problem. Thank to you guys (like Casper) they have always been solved. Now I have another issue that hopefully can be solved.

I have a Microsoft Trackball Optical Mouse that I've been using for years now. When using Firefox, I click the left side button to go back or the right to go forward. I was also able to do the same function within Windows XP and Vista. If I was navigating Windows folders and wanted to go back to the previous folder, I just click the left button and it wld do it, just like in Firefox. Well, now in Ubuntu, I keep trying to do the same thing but the buttons don't work. They work well and good wen I'm using Firefox, but in the main shell they do not work. I opened xorg.config and nothing is in there. Just blank. Any ideas how to get this to work?

Try to search (like in Google) for "mouse gesture"+nautilus or "mouse gestures"+ubuntu and you may find some tips (if not native, maybe with an app like gnome-do etc.).

Thanks for the tip but gesturing isn't what I'm looking for. Since it's a trackball, that would be a lot of thumb-flicking!
