    Can't start VMWARE Workstation 6.5

    Hi

    Hope someone can help.

Basically i have managed to install vm workstation 6.5 after having updated the kernel headers and using the .bundle package from vmware website. Installs fine, no erros, get the icon under system tools. When i try and laucnh it, the hourglass cursor comes up and then nothing. No errors.

If i launch it from the terminal using SUDO VMWARE then i get this error:

    Logging to /tmp/vmware-root/setup-15343.log
modinfo: could not find module vmmon
modinfo: could not find module vmnet
modinfo: could not find module vmblock
modinfo: could not find module vmci
modinfo: could not find module vsock
modinfo: could not find module vmmon
modinfo: could not find module vmnet
modinfo: could not find module vmblock
modinfo: could not find module vmci
modinfo: could not find module vsock
    /usr/bin/vmware: line 31: 15343 Segmentation fault "$BINDIR"/vmware-modconfig --appname="VMware Workstation" --icon="vmware-workstation"

So i found an article whcih said to type

    vmware-modconfig –console –install-all

    and i get this error:

    Logging to /tmp/vmware-denis/setup-16160.log
    Icon name must be set.

THe log just shows the same error regarding Icon name.

    Any help really appreciated...

You can configure them again running vmware-configure

I had the same problem, but solved it by running vmware-modconfig as ROOT, i.e. not using sudo.
