    sound muted at startup

    sound works but is muted every start and i cannot change this file. somethig is changing it all the time. Amixer shows master volume at zero and i do not know how to edit/ change this

    alsactl: save_state:1541: Cannot open /var/lib/alsa/asound.state for writing: Permission denied

    Can any one help with this. All help appreciated

    Have you tried to execute that command with root privileges? You can gain root privileges through sudo.
