Can not install ubuntu 9.04 in seagate sata Hard disk (sata_sil module not found)
Hi
I am trying to install ubuntu 9.04 on a my Laptop Toshiba Model M100-SP with HDD Seagate 100 GB SATA...
The problem is that the installer could not detect the sata hard disk... I think the problem is because the kernel 2.26.28-11-generic (ubuntu 9.04) doesn't have the sata_sil module.
I have tried to load it manually with modprobe -i sata_sil and modprobe -i libata but the modules were not found!!!
Please any advice? What can I do?

Welcome to the forums!
I don't have a laptop so can't test this, but you might try disabling SATA in your BIOS to see if doing so will allow you to install.
Hope it works in absence of any other solutions.oz

The bios detects SATA HDD, but it is not possible to disable SATA in Bios.

Can you toggle SATA mode in BIOS? Try Enhanced SATA and Legacy mode one by one.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
