USB Problems
I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Amilo L7310W Laptop. Ubuntu 9.04 does not see any USB device when plugged in. I have to go to Terminal and type in "lsusb" about 3 times before it sees the USB device. It then takes about 5-10 minutes before I can see the Disk_Img. Downloading stuff from my USB powered external 250 gig drive takes very long. A 650mb file took around 45 minutes. Typing "lsusb" with my Kodak camera plugged in took about 20 minutes before being recognised. Downloading 365 photos from the camera took around 1.5 hours. Any one have any ideas? I don't really want to go back to Windoze, but I may be forced to! The USB ports worked fine under Windows XP. Is there any way for the USB devices to be recognised automatically and also speed??

may be it is an issue with the new Jaunty Jackalope 9.04, if you want to stay with ubuntu I recommend Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex,
Dual Booting Ubuntu 10.04, Windows 7
Toshiba Satellite A200-1M5, Duo Core 2.0 Ghz, 1 Gigs RAM, 256 Intel Card

I searched the web for you and found quite a ot of problems with your system, including several USB problems. You can try to report this to launchpad so the bug will be known to them.
You might also try to downgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 or 8.04 LTS(which I am using).
