I Have installed new 110 Gb drive on ASUS A3A laptop and partitioned it. Hda1=Xp,Hda2=fat32,Hda3=/home,Hda4=logical Hd5,6,7 /boot,/and swap
Copied across home folder from 7.04 reinstalled ubuntu 8.04 .

/home contains user settings and documents only. Applications will need to be re-installed using synaptic package manager or apt-get.

why don't you just upgrade the distro
Code:sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Dual Booting Ubuntu 10.04, Windows 7
Toshiba Satellite A200-1M5, Duo Core 2.0 Ghz, 1 Gigs RAM, 256 Intel Card
