    Hello;

    Sometimes if you disable the USB Compatibility mode in your BIOS (CMOS) it will run a lot faster (in any operating system).
    This option is to run USB2 which is many times faster than USB 1.x in a low speed mode.

    sorry of this is not the solution but I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and I just copied 60.5 MB of my MP3 files from a USB stick to my Music folder (PC) in few seconds!

    (I had 80.8 MB but there were already some existing files in my PC's folder so I had to click to over write them a few times so it took less than 20 seconds all together). that is why I edited this

    Matey the transfer rate begins with a high speed under ubuntu approx. 11.5 MB/s but it gets decreasing and decreasing so if you wanna make sure if you 100% doesn't have the issue try to transfer 200+MB files and see what happens with you.
