wireless Internet Not Working

I own a Dell Latitude D505. I took the advice on the forum labeled Setting Up A Wireless Card in Linux.

Here is the response the system gave me after typing "lspci -nn" into Terminal:

You have a Broadcom 43xx card. These require additional firmware which are not open thus not included.

Option 1:

Try installing the b43-fwcutter package, which should in turn grab the files you need. The script acquires by download, so you'll need to be wired in to a net connection for this to work.

sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter


Option 2:

Option 3:

Install ndiswrapper and use the Windows drivers.

thanks D-cat, i took "option 1" and rebooted and everything is working great!

for future reference all restricted drivers can be found and installed by going system -> administration -> hardware drivers

glad it worked, and D-cat gave you the best solution which is option 1 but I don't recommend to use option 3 unless options 1 & 2 failed, and please post the issue as solved
