First of all, check if Graphics Card has been configured correctly?

    Code:
sudo lspci | grep -i vga
    grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    Post output here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

How did you install Nvidia driver? Did you use Hardware Drivers option available in Administrative Menu?

I'd recommend ditching 9.04....it has several problems and this is just one of them (it's known for freezing up because of non stable drivers being used for Intel chipset). 8.10 was a much better release

when you installed it, did you manually partitioned the partitions or did you use the the automatic installation because it could be an issue about the swap area if the case is the first one and please post the output of
    Code:
    /proc/meminfo

I didn't install the driver supplied by the manufacturer. Just installed Ubuntu 9.04 workstation on the CD installer. It went through w/o complaint. After finish ran update and upgrade. That is all.

I don't know whether I still can find the CD supplied by graphic card manufacturer. The box is more than 2 years old.

The drivers on the CD are usually only for Windows. Since it says Nvidia drivers, Ubuntu must have installed them from repository. I think that it is restricted driver because nouveau driver usually says nv.

Just select Hardware Drivers option in Administrative Menu.

System -- Administration -- Hardware Drivers

It will detect Graphics Card, download and install correct driver itself.

    Hi devils casper,

I think the Hardware Driver already installed.

System -> Administration -> NVIDEA X Server Settings

    NVIDIA Driver Version: 180.44
    (the latest version on repo)
