    Ubuntu or Kubuntu?

    What is are the major differences between the two?
    I am beginning to work with a Beagle Board and am looking for the most suitable distribution for my laptop to program bootable SD cards and edit files associated with the beagle board.

    Ubuntu uses the Gnome desktop environment, and Kubuntu uses KDE. That's the major difference between them. Which one is better is purely a matter of personal preference and varies from one user to the next.

    Gnome uses the GTK toolkit and KDE uses the QT toolkit, so if that makes a difference to the Beagle Board programming, you may choose accordingly.
