Hi,
My Ubuntu went all stripes when i booted the free live cd that i ordered from the shipit.
I tried kubuntu but it does not work.
The difference is Ubuntu has more strips.
My computer is a Intel Celeron D cpu
I have a 512 mb ram with 64mb used for video
I have no sound cards

Do you mean that the screen goes stripey?
You could try pressing F4 (I think) when at the boot menu of the live CD and choosing a video mode more appropriate for your hardwareIf we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)

Welcome to the forums!

This definitely sounds like it's video oriented and I agree with elija that experimenting with some different video modes will probably get you past this hurdle.
