Ubunut not recognizing SATA drives
Hello all.
I am trying to install Ubuntu (various versions) on my computer. None of the versions recognize the SATA drives even being there. It does recognize the
IDE.
Plan I am trying to use...
MB = XFX MD-A72P-7509 (3 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio,
Video, Gigabit LAN, 6 SATA ports)
CPU = DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2900 MHz (14.5 x 200) 5600+
Memory = Patriot Memory 6400LL Series... 7 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM
(5-5-5-12 400 MHz) (4-4-4-8 266 MHz) (3-3-3-6 200 MHz)
HDs = (planned)
1 x SATA 160G to run the system
2 x SATA 500G as RAID 1
1 x DVD-RW
1 x Blue-Ray RW
Have tried the many Ubunut as well as Deb, DSL, Fedora 9, RH Enterprise, Slackware, K/M/E buntus. In every case, not seeing the SATA at all. Running
the 32 or 64 made no difference.
I did check w/mb and bios and a Tech confirmed that the MB does not have a driver for Linux based distros.

check your hardware setting sounds like more of a hardware problem then a software issue.

followup
Have done so.
SATA controllers are enabled.
Only using the 1st 3 ports for the SATA drives (confirmed).
Tried 1st setting the SATA in SATA Mode -- no luck
Tried 2nd setting in RAID Mode -- no luck.
If I format the drives as vfat for example, they will all show up in Windows.
(note: am not a windows fan at all.)
Thanks Again tho!
