can't start Firefox : profile couldn't be created

Hello,

I receive following error when starting Firefox 3.
I'm starting with a fresh installation and so need to create a user profile.
I cleaned directory ~/.mozilla but without any result, also once created by Firefox the directory ~/.mozilla is writable by the logged user
Versions are Kubuntu 9.04 and Firefox 3.0

Profile couldn't be created. Probably the chosen folder isn't writable.

It appears that this is a bug. There is a workaround here.
