Connection to WiFi Acces point with Non-root user

My Problem is to establish a wireless connection under a non privileged user account.
I installed UBUNTU (8.10 or 9.04) on my laptops (N.b. the same problem occurs on all laptops used in our household - DELL Inspiron with factory installed Ubuntu, IBM T41 with GOS 3.1 (Ubuntu based) and an ASUS X58LE (Ubuntu 9.04).

The problem is: When Logging on to the computer under the privileged account (created at install) a WiFi access to a protected access point can be setup.

When logging on to the laptop with a non-privileged account (added to the system later) the Wifi access would not be established.

In addition: when first logging in with the account created at start-up and establishing WiFi access, access would be re-established after log off and log on with any other account.

I assume that this might be a problem with the necessary user privileges, if someone could point me into the right direction, help is very much appreciated.

Did you add your user to the network group, or whatever Ubuntu's equivalent is?

    Managing users in Ubuntu

Go to System->Administration->Users and Groups. You should be able to select your user and edit that account. Under the User Priveleges tab, there should be an option for Connect to Internet.
