    Hehehe

Type these commands and print the output.

    gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/applications/main-menu/file-area/file_mgr_open_cmd
    gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/applications/component_viewer/exec

Man, where do you guys get those obscure commands from...

I tried them. For first it said no value set and for second it said 'nautilus %s'. What are you trying to know. The 'preferred applications' values?

Yes, The first one is default execution program for main menu "Places"
and The second one is default file manager.

THanks for the help, I was able to access the files/directories through the hard disk and then the properties menu. I had made vlc the default app for my home folder! when it was meant for the music folder underneath it
