Audio tag editor problem - known MP3 editors won't recognize my MP3s!
I sure hope this isn't a disaster, but I'm going absolutely crazy trying to organize my music files. It may have started with the crappy music phone I tried to transfer them to, but now I've got a problem editing the ID tags on Ubuntu with anything other than Rhythmbox. I spent a couple of hours editing my MP3s with this program,. and I like how easy it made the editing of my MP3 ID tags, but the tags which I edited with Rhythmbox did not display correctly nor consistently on my Sony Walkman phone. What made this a nightmare, after cleaning up the mess it left on my phone, was installing three more Ubuntu-supported tag editors, at least one which explicitly lists MP3 tag support in the Synaptic description (Easytag, the other two were Audio Tag Tool and JuK), only to find that they did not recognize my MP3s at all! Oddly enough, they are still accessible and editable through Rhythmbox. I could NOT find through Google any report, nor an explanation, of this strange behavior.
If it's worth noting, all the files which I attempted to import into these programs were previously edited by Rhythmbox, and then subsequent Googling left me surprised that Rhythmbox would deal with my MP3s at all, being part of the original Ubuntu package.
I have been to the Medibuntu site, and all my MP3s actually do play on my Ubuntu system.
My current Ubuntu system is Jackalope (9.04).
Please help, even if it's to say that you never heard of such a strange thing!
