how do I clone my Ubuntu install CD
After 2 days and 6 possibly ruined CDs I am ready to try to copy my Ubuntu install cdrom by using commands from the console.
I have tried Brasero and K3b with the same failure results. I have a brasero.toc and brasero.toc.bin files on my disk, but brasero.toc will not burn to a cd. As always I am completely lost and frustrated as to why this isn't working.
This should be easy...copy cd ISO image to hard disk, burn ISO image from hard disk to a blank CD.
Giving up on the GUI...can anyone tell me in a very simple way how to copy a cd using the CLI.
Thanks in advance

You should be able to use Disk Copy in K3b or Brasero to copy a CD disk, then remove that disk and write the copied data to another newly inserted blank disk. If that's not working there might be something wrong with the command line recording application that won't allow it to work from command line either, because K3b and Brasero both use the same software that you will use to record from the command line.
If you want to try your luck at the command line, check this tutorial:
Linux Tutorial: Burning a CD or DVD
It's one of the best I've seen for command line burning, copying, etc, and has always worked for me.
Post the errors if any should come up and maybe someone can help.oz

Why do you have a table of contents and boot catalogue on your desktop? The .iso file is a bootable image and requires no further manipulation. You just need to choose burn as an image. It sounds like you're trying to reinvent the wheel by creating a bootable disc, but if you already have the iso or install disc this is not required.

ozar, thank you for your helpful reply.
I will be looking at that tutorial further. Basically what I need is to put the ISO on hard disk and then burn that to a blank CD (no dvd player/recorder). The problem with the GUI versions is that my cdrom drive does not allow me time to swap CDs once the original is copied to disk (tray opens and closes immediately).
I will read up on the link you sent me, and see if I can make something work. Thanks again.
