i HAVE DELL INSPIRON 1525. I BOUGHT UBUNTU 9.04 CD. I TRIED THE FIRST OPTION WHILE IT BOOTED FROM CD. THAT IS TO TRY UBUNTU WITHOUT ANY CHANGE. I TRIED THAT AND FOUND THAT I WAS NOT ABLE TO RUN ANY MOVIE. IT SAYS SOME PLUGINS ARE MISSING. I THINK THE AUDIO DRIVER IS MISSING. IS IT ADVISABLE FOR ME INSTALL. OR IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET THAT??

Welcome to the forums!
You'll need to have libdvdcss installed to play DVD movies:

The majority of commercial DVDs are encrypted with CSS and won't play unless libdvdcss is installed. If you've not installed it you probably won't be able to play most DVD movies, but Ubuntu is distributed that way by default.

You can check to see what modules are loading at boot time by going to a terminal or console and running the the lsmod command:
All of the video players listed in the HowTo that I posted above work pretty well for playing movies. I personally prefer mPlayer and VLC, but I've tried all of them in the past and they all worked well enough.Code:lsmod

Sorry to jump in here, but I've been following this thread from the beginning. From what you said it doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with your audio drivers. You have been asked to install codecs to allow you to play video. As ozar already said you should install libdvdcss if you need to play DVDs. Aside from that you can install all codecs by opening System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager and searching for and installing ubuntu-restricted-extras. After that is installed you should be able to play any video you like.
