Trying to dualboot XP and eebuntu via memory card
Hello everyone. I own an Acer aspire one and I want to dual boot EEEbuntu and Windows XP. I have experimented with many netbook systems (Ubuntu 8.10, 9.4, Ubuntu NBR, Ubuntu Easy Peasy, EEEbuntu Std., NBR and base) and the most fastest and most stable is EEEbuntu Base. However, recently I have updated it and now the system is unstable with Wifi kicking out randomly although WinXP has no problem with it. XP is my main workhorse for school but I use Linux for web browsing and watching videos. I apparently ran out of space (8GB ssd) to install openoffice and a few other programs on eeebuntu and I have no more space to give that system. I have a separate 8GB SD card in the storage expansion slot which I want to split into 4gb parts, one for eeebuntu and the other for general storage with XP owning my 8gb ssd.
So this is what I need to do:
1) delete eeebuntu and grub off the ssd while keeping my xp working and untouched. Making it boot straight to xp if the memory card is not inserted. (i have an idea on how to do this, just fixmbr and expand the partition via partition editor)
2) split the memory card into ext3 and ntfs 4gb parts (read alot of tutorials online but still confused on how to make it work properly, specifically about swap partitions and ext3 format)
3) install EEEbuntu on memory card with grub that gives me the choice to boot into XP if I want to
Any help on 2 and 3 would be appreciated.

Okay I have finished #1 by myself. Expanded the ntfs XP partition and used recovery console to fixmbr. Now it boots straight into wondows as planned on the SSD. However, when I formatted the SD card into ext3 and installed EEEbuntu, the install went fine but grub does not want to install on the sd card. Also, I left the swap partition on the SSD as alot of guides online say I should. However, when I try to install GRUB on the ssd (step 7 Advanced of the install process) I get 2 choices: First one is "sda" and the second one is "sda1: Windows xp". I install on sda and now when i boot i get:
Grub 1.5
error 17
Clueless on how to fix it since I'm using a SD memory card plus SSD and all the guides are for multiple hard drives. Plz help.
Just tried with using the USB to SD adapter as stated in many guides. Still the same error. I have an idea it might have something to do with my aspire one instead of the install. Apparently it does not have the ability to see the SD as a bootable device
