Remote Desktop connect from Windows Vista to Ubuntu 8.0.4
Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance!

yes you just need to get a vnc viewer or rdesktop in Vista. In Ubuntu you go to a System-> Preferences -> Remote Desktop, turn it on and make sure to have a decent password.
Also if you are behind a router you'll need to setup port forwarding and get your external ip (unless of course you are accessing it via a LAN)Bodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17

I tried to use uVNC on Vista and I enabled everything on Ubuntu and an error message was displayed. Are you supposed to use your internal or external IP when connecting? I do not know what is the problem. Please help! Thanks!!!

are you connecting on your LAN or from outside of your LAN? Also, are you port forwarding correctly? Are you connected to a router or directly to modem? I've never heard of uVNC, I'd recommend tight vnc

I got it working , although I still have a question. Currently I am connecting to my Vista computer with Ubuntu. However, I am still having trouble seeing my Ubuntu computer screen on Vista. Is there a way for both computers to see each other? Also, it is possible transfer files from one computer to the other while using tightvnc? thanks again!

About the link to VncViewer that you gave me:
What does the display textbox mean in this software? I installed it in Windows but it has been unsuccessful in connecting to linux. Also, I am using port 5900, as selected in Ubuntu, is this correct?

yeah 5900 would be right. Display textbox, not sure, I haven't used it in a long time but I'll try to check it out in the next few days.
As for seeing Ubuntu, you can't simulatneously see both (I dont think) but you should be able to connect to Ubuntu. You made sure you set up remote desktop in preferences? I've always been able to connect to my machine with no problem.
You cannot transfer files this way, you can only do that over a LAN setting up a home network or getting some kind of ftp setup going.Bodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17

If you're using both machines in the same location you might be interested in checking out Synergy...
