[SOLVED] Noobie HELP! Partition for 2nd HARD DRIVE!

Hi guys! I was wondering if anyone can help me out. I currently was testing out Ubuntu and I think its wonderful. The only problem is that I installed Ubuntu on my second HD (the whole hard drive 160GB...no partitions) . I didn't do any partitions and I really need some file storage from that drive for windows. I need to uninstall Ubuntu first and then create a partition and then install it back again. Can someone help me out I would appreciate it.

If there is a way to partition my drive where I installed UBUNTU so I have more space on Windows I WOULD appreciate your help!

I already tried the partition editor and it doesn't let me unmount the drive that I want to partiton!

If you have no partitions on that drive and want to unmount it, then that is not porrible. Instead, boot into a live CD and run GParted, it is good to resize partitions. You can resize your root partition. Then add VFAT partitions if you want to see them in Windows.

    Hi and Welcome !

There is no need to re-install Ubuntu. Boot up from Ubuntu LiveCD and open GParted Partition Manager. Its in System - Administration menu.

Just shrink partition and create new partitions out of free space. You can create NTFS Partition(s). Ubuntu support NTFS read/write access out of box.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
