Problem booting/fsck error
Hi, I'm kinda noob to Ubuntu... I really don't know programming, I'm very noob at that stuff but i found Ubuntu really cool, but sometimes I have real headaches trying to solve some problems...
I was running on Hardy and I had some problem with fsck. It display a dev/sda1 error or something.. when booting I had to put ESC to boot to the OS, and problem solved until I had to boot again.
I updated my system to Intrepid and when it installed and rebooted I couldn't do the ESC thing again, but the error still goes on and it was impossible for me to enter Ubuntu (two days trying and trying) until I found that fsck didn't run at all when my laptop was unplugged. from AC. Also, when I enter the OS it unlogged me once from my session for no reason, the second time it just shutdown and the third time the system froze. This is my fourth time using this and I'm just waiting for this to crash again anytime... How do I solve this, it's driving me crazy and making me think on re installing Windows again. Ahhhh.

Yes. You need to show us the error. In any case, you might need to beet from a liveCD and run fsck manually on the drive with the force option enabled.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

I'm afraid that's it... System file error with dev/sda1 because of unclean shutdown. There's a lot of stuff appearing in the screen and it goes very quick so I don't know th exact problem...
Today I got problems with the headphones jack... something I fixed a couple of months ago and I really suffered with that... my music applet dissapeared and now I can't re install it... I updated to Intrepid to install some new versions of some software and they won't install... etc etc
I really like Ubuntu's concept and when there are no problem of this kind I really enjoy it, but it's just too much for us noobs. I just decided with all the pain in my heart(!) that I have to go back to Windows. It looks horrible, but at least I can install everything I want without having problems of this kind every 2 or 3 weeks. Anyways, thanks for answering, you're so kind
