How to upgrade ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04
I am currently using ubuntu 8.10 and recently i received a free disk of ubuntu 9.04...And now i want to upgrade it to the newer version..But when i boot my live cd no options were for upgrading..Can some one say me the way...

You might consider a clean install rather than upgrading, it just keeps the fuss to a minimum and clean installs are the recommended way to go by most distros.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

There's an upgrade option in the Update Manager, but it's a ginormous download. On your new CD there is no "upgrade" option, you just install it.
If you haven't done so already, you'll want to designate a /home partition, so that all your settings and pictures and music and such won't be wiped away in a new install.
I have read repeatedly that a "fresh install" is more desirable than an upgrade anyway, and I bet it's educational too!

I never had barney with the upgrade option.
