    Thumbs up How to upgrade ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04

    I am currently using ubuntu 8.10 and recently i received a free disk of ubuntu 9.04...And now i want to upgrade it to the newer version..But when i boot my live cd no options were for upgrading..Can some one say me the way...

    You might consider a clean install rather than upgrading, it just keeps the fuss to a minimum and clean installs are the recommended way to go by most distros.

    There's an upgrade option in the Update Manager, but it's a ginormous download. On your new CD there is no "upgrade" option, you just install it.

    If you haven't done so already, you'll want to designate a /home partition, so that all your settings and pictures and music and such won't be wiped away in a new install.

    I have read repeatedly that a "fresh install" is more desirable than an upgrade anyway, and I bet it's educational too!

    I never had barney with the upgrade option.
