im using the Ati 3850HD right now will the Nvidea BFG 7800GT work alot better or will i not notice any differnce?, i mean i notice compiz off my windows ...

im using the Ati 3850HD right now will the Nvidea BFG 7800GT work alot better or will i not notice any differnce?, i mean i notice compiz off my windows kind of open and close a little slow...

NVidia drivers for GNU/Linux are usually much more developed than ATI... assuming that they are comparable cards, I don't see how you could go wrong.
You might want to see if it isn't something else causing that before shelling out the cash though. : /

Feature and performance-wise, the ATI and nVidia cards are very competitive. Where they differ is in driver support. nVidia has made real progress in supporting Linux systems with their drivers, for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. I don't do much gaming on my 8800GT nVidia card, but I do a lot of video processing, with dual 24" 1920x1200 displays and can run full-screen full-motion 720p HD video on both displays at the same time. I/O, I/O, it's off to disc I go...
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

7800 gt my friend gave was dead
so i bought me a Nvidea 9800gt, turned off pc took out Ati card installed the Nvidea one, reinstalled mint 7, all i have to say is the Ati drivers suck HARD, the Nvidea driver is so much better its not EVEN funny
