[SOLVED] Error when booting from Live CD (9.04)

    Hallo,

I am trying to install Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) on my home PC. I am using the same DVD that i used on my work PC, thus the DVD is not defective. My home PC has the following specs:

    Processor: Core 2 Quad, 2.3Ghz
    Motherboard: Intel DP43TF
    Ram: 2GB
    Video: NVidia GeForce 9400GT (1Gig)

When I boot using the Live CD, after i select the "Try Ubuntu" or "Install Ubuntu" options I get a black screen with the following message:

I am still new to Linux and am not sure how to proceed from this point on. All assistance is greatly appreciated.

It's a BIOS compatibility issue. You have two options:

1: Seek a BIOS upgrade for your computer. Be careful with this one; one wrong move and your computer becomes a brick.

2: Use the LTS Hardy Heron release instead (8.04), which according to a launchpad user didn't suffer this bug. Do not upgrade the kernel.

    Launchpad: Bug 291158
