    installation problems

I have a very broad problem that I'm not sure how to specify/resolve. Everything that I attempt to download and install as of late simply won't install, a common message error is "dependency not satisfiable"; I sadly can't really be more specific about the problem than that. Are there any troubleshooting commands I can input and/or documents I should consult that might help resolve the issue? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Don't download and try to install software from the net yet .The best way to install software that you are looking for is through your Add/Remove or Synaptic Package Manager. After you run Linux for awhile and get comfortable with it. You can start trying to install from source downloads.

If you really want to use the command line for your package installation efforts, take a look at the apt-howto:

    APT HOWTO

...apt will take care of any dependencies if you have the right repositories enabled and the packages you need are in the repos.
