    Unhappy compiz doesnt work for me..........

    i have a ASUS M2NPV-VM mothervoard with precessor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ & 3GB RAM
    i have installed compiz according to the compiz help for ubuntu
    i am using ubuntu installed over my win Xp.
    please help

    Compiz puts a heavy load on graphics processing. If you don't have a good graphics card/chip, and the drivers to support it, it may not work for you. The best drivers are the ones nVidia provides for it's products.

    Since Compiz is merely "eye candy", and provides no needed functions, I would just disable it. This is not to say that Intel and ATI video can't support Compiz, but I wouldn't bother even trying.

    What version of Ubuntu are you using? I have an ATI/AMD card, and I was unable to use compiz until I upgraded to 9.04 (from 8.04, that is)

    do double check wheather u hv installed proprietary drivers for your garphic card if needed
