Tracking Files created during installation
I want to knw if there is any way of keeping a track of files being created ( profiles etc ) by a program during installation.
Is there a way to do it if its a Java program?
Is there a convenient software that i can use to do it?
This is not urgent but its definitely important. I might have installed an untrusted program as root ( In my eagerness to experiment with linux). I want to remove all trace of the program.

Hello and Welcome.
If you used a package manager to install the program, you might be able to use the package manager to keep track of the files.
If you installed software from source and you think it's untrustworthy, you might be better off re-installing your whole system, you did use root to install this program and you have no real way of knowing what this software did to your system. But that's just my opinion and you should decide what's best for you and your circumstance.
You might be able to read the INSTALL/README notes about how to remove the software, if you used source code.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

It was a program to whose source codes i do not have access. I m willing to install it on another computer ( which i will willingly sacrifice
) if by doing so i can trace the files being created/modified by the program during installation.

Tell us, how did you install this software? Where did you get it?
