    Welcome to the forums!

It sounds like Firefox was open at some point when you shutdown your system and you chose to save the session. Just guessing, though.

What Ozar means is did you have Firefox open when you shutdown your computer? Ubuntu remembers what applications you were running and will reopen them for you when you log in again

Does it start before or after you log in?

If you haven't already done so, try going to System / Preferences / Startup Applications / Options

...and uncheck the "Automatically remember running applications when logging out" box.

    hi Ozar
    thx for your input.
Sorry I just realised that I hadn't mentioned its Mythubuntu the operating system.

I checked the session and start up screens and there are no options for automatically remembering running apps. when logging out. With hindsight I should have posted this to the Mythtv forum.
