xubuntu in emachines,no sound or video?
Hello forum members.I'm still fairly new to computers and have recently installed xubuntu in an older model emachine but can't seem to get video or sound.i am learning to like xubuntu and it has made my computer run alittle better considering it was freezing all the time and was operating on windows nt2000.So far everything else has been running smoothly but just can't seem to get video or audio. Is there a certain flash that i need or add-on or extension.Any advice would be much appreciated. Can't stand to see my killer sound system collecting dust.Thank you.

To install support for Flash, MP3 and restricted video formats use the command:
Does this solve your sound problems too?Code:sudo apt-get install xubuntu-restricted-extras

Hello Kieren and thank you for your quick response. I'm about to try your advice but need to know 'where do i put in the command code'?I hope i don't sound dumb but as i said before i'm new to linux and still am trying to figure the system out.I really would like to learn all that i can about linux and it's different flavors and hope that one day i can help you with something in return. Thanks again.

Sorry, I should have said.
In Linux you often use the terminal to do things. They can almost always be done using your GUI but using a terminal is quite often a lot quicker. The nearest thing in Windows is the command prompt, which is often a little black window that you type commands such as 'ipconfig' into.
Anyway, to open a terminal you need to go to:
Applications menu -> Accessories -> Terminal
That will open your terminal; just type the command I gave you into there. It will ask you to enter your password as you're installing some software. Do be careful about what commands you type into the terminal though as you can do anything with the terminal including deleting files so only paste commands when you know what they do!
