Are you sure you don't have a faulty cartridge? I didn't think Ubuntu prints lower quality when you get low on ink

You are probably using an original cartridge, or the one you've got when you've bought your printer. You will be able to print out another 100 pages or so, before it's really exhausted. For example, I've bought me recently a new Samsung ML-1640, and with the original fill, I could print out 600 pages, and Xubuntu have shown that my cartridge is empty. I must confess, that I don't use to buy another cartridge, but instead of it for 1/3 the price I use to refill it. The maintainer, who did the refilling have told me, that I could have printed out at least 100 pages, although the system have shown me, that the cartridge is empty. Off course, I had to buy a chip, and it has been installed on the printer, and now there are no more warnings anymore.
