    Are you looking for the open or closed source driver? I am not sure the open source driver is very up to date for ubuntu 8.04. This driver is called "radeonhd". You should be able to download and install the driver from the ATI website if that is what you need, though the one in the repos may work, I'm not sure how new your card is.

    open source. This is a brand new motherboard with integraed graphics.
    ASRock a780gxe/128m. I tried ATI but didn't see open source..just Windoze

    Like I said, I'm not sure if the radeonhd driver is installed, I would look in synaptic and see if it is. Then it would just be a matter of editing your xorg.conf file to use this driver. The ATI driver is not open source, this is the 32-bit driver here ATI Catalyst? Proprietary Display Driver
