Question Problem with cisco vpn client

    Hi,
I am pretty new to linux and i have ubuntu jaunty installed.. to access the computer at school, i got vpnsetup.sh file from school and installed it on my laptop. and after the installation, there was shortcut in the menu applications-->internet

The cisco vpnclient in that menu pointed to /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpnui

But for some reason since yesterday, when i click on that in the menu the user interface doesn't open at all.

I tried to use /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpnui from the terminal and i got a gthread error.

Can any of you give me any advice as to what to do to get this thing sorted out. I also tried reinstalling the application and it was of no help

    thanks,
    dagarshali

    Hi dagarshali
Run, as root, a find command like -> #find / -name vpnsetup.sh -print
Once you find it run #ls -la 'where ever it is'/vpnsetup.sh
Is the original script as you installed it in terms of permissions? If so fix to what it was when you first did the install.
If the above does not have a problem then it must be that your Menu Item has lost its link somehow. You can invoke it at any command line if you provide the complete path. Hope this helps. If all else fails reinstall and hope it works from there. Cheers...
