I'm having some problems with downloads. When I download an application ubuntu thinks of it as a file. Does anyone know how to turn it into a proper application....

I'm having some problems with downloads. When I download an application ubuntu thinks of it as a file. Does anyone know how to turn it into a proper application.

I'd recommend using synaptic or apt to download and install your applications if possible.oz

The downloaded app is Visual Boy Advance (there is a VBA express in add/remove programs but I don't know how to change controls, If anyone can help me with it).

Go to System>Administration>Synaptic for Downloading Apps. If your Visual Boy Advance File you downloaded ends in exe that file is for a Windows operating System and you will need to download Wine through synaptic to install it into Linux. Can't guarantee it will work. Some Windows exe work in Wine. Some don't. You might want to read up a little from the below Link
