I just got a Asus eee 1000HA with the intent of setting up a dual-boot between Windows XP and Ubuntu Netbook Remix. The only issue I see is there are four partitions, C: at 80GB, D: at 60GB, PE at 4.89GB, and something called EFI at 47 MB. I asked at the ubuntu forum, and was told to edit the partitions within windows, which as far as I know can't be done unless I have the Windows OS disk, which I don't. My intent is to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix without ruining the Windows recovery partition, or the windows partition itself, assuming D is the recovery partition (it only has 66.4MB in it, but I don't see any files on looking inside the drive). I heard that I shouldn't use GParted to re-size the drive, as this would have negative repercussions on the Windows partition. So, what can I do to clear 80GB out of this 160 GB drive? I'm hoping for 60GB for C, and 20 with D, and the logical partition for Windows, and then the Ubuntu installation and logical partition to fill the rest of the space. Can I do this? If not, I might just go all Ubuntu.
