    [HELP] Installing/Removing Ubuntu problems.

    Hi,

I've currently been running Ubuntu inside Windows XP, however I'd now like to reinstall it under a dedicated hard drive Partition, however I've come across a few problems.

    1. I've uninstalled Ubuntu through windows, however on startup I still get the option to boot in Ubuntu. If I try and select this option, I get told that there is some file missing from windows and that it wont work, it then restarts my computer. Windows works fine. How can I remove this option from the boot menu?

    2. I've tried installing Ubuntu via unetbootin, however I'm not sure how to go about installing Ubuntu on a fresh partition from the Live install session. I've opened Gparted, here's my current partitions:

    /dev/sda1 - ntfs - 53.56 GiB
    /dev/sda2 - extended - 2.33 GiB
/dev/sda5 - linux-swap-2.33 GiB (listed under the above).

I've been on the Install interface and I'm unable to create a fresh partition there, Gparted also doesn't seem to want to let me install a fresh partition.

It would be much appreciated if anyone could help me with these problems.

Oh, and if you hadn't already guessed, I'm a Linux noob.

Not sure why it happens, but a lot of people run into the problem uninstalling Wubi. In XP, you should be able to edit the C:/boot.ini file and remove the Ubuntu option.
