i have installed almost all the packages of ubuntu 9.04 on kubuntu 9.04 but still the video or the audio doesnt work what should i do?...

    i have installed almost all the packages of ubuntu 9.04 on kubuntu 9.04 but still the video or the audio doesnt work
    what should i do?

    Have you tried VLC Media Player? Do Audio/Video work fine for other formats?
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    no format works...............Vlc doesnt get installed

    um if you want to install vlc which pretty much plays ever format you can think of straight out of the box you would need to run this in the konsole:

    sudo apt-get install vlc

    Does your audio work? When you login do you hear the login sounds?

    Be sure

    sudo apt-get install kubuntu-restricted-extras

    has been done. It may also be worth your while to check out

    System>Administrato>Synaptics Package Manager in the search type in vlc it will find it check ti install it. if the video seems choppy that means you need a video driver.
