hi,
i still can not install flash player & java with ubuntu 9.04 on my ps3
i have tryed all the ways by looking on this site but still no luck
when i use terminal i get PERMISSION DENIED
& when i use package installer i get ERROR:WRONG ARCHITECTURE I386
help any one

If you want to install anything using the terminal you have to type the word 'sudo' before the command so that you are given administrator permission.
(You can also type sudo -s by itself to go into root user mode.)
Java is kind of hopeless but if you want to run an app that uses java post it and i'll tell you what a good alternative is.
As far as flash goes. Go to System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package manager to try and install stuff. Search for 'flash', if flashplugin-installer doesnt work then there is also a program called swfdec which might work.

ok,
i tryed all of thatstill on good, i did load swfdec but! when i go on youtube or justin.tv i click the F logo & nothing happends
i have never know some thing to be so hard to get working! do you think its some think to do with the ps3?

Yeah, thats because adobe doesnt make flash for the PPC architecture (intel and AMD processors are built using a design called the x86 architecture).
But anyways, try installing gnash and mozilla-plugin-gnash using synaptic.

thanks for your help but im giving up on this ubuntu on the ps3 i needed adobe to work, it works with the software that comes on the ps3 but it does not let you watch shows from archives on justin.tv thats what i was trying to do with ubuntu but its not to be.... O well thanks any way.
