[SOLVED] boot from cd works only with windows cds
i found an old pc and i wanted to put backtrack (ubuntu 8.10) on it, but it doesn't boot from backtrack cd... i thought it was a bios problem, but i found out that everything's ok, in fact, it boots without any problem from ANY windows cd, like windows microXP... the system is an old windows 2000 but i'm formatting the disk with windows installer, but it can't be an HDD problem, i think...
does anybody know a solution to this?
thanks in advance!

Are you burning these disks, or did you buy them from a Linux CD vendor?
If you are burning them yourself, it sounds like you are not burning them properly:

well, i've burned them, in fact the original ubuntu and kubuntu 9.04 disks (sent by canonical) are working... but the fact is that my burned image of either backtrack and nubuntu 8.12 worked on every single pc i've tryed them... maybe i need a more recent cd reader?

Some older cdroms won't boot from cdrw cds.
