Ubuntu Netbook Remix Wireless Network Problem

After an update to eeebuntu, I completely lost my connection to the Internet. I reformatted and installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my Asus eeepc 901.

It works fine if I have an ethernet cord plugged into it, but I can't get the wireless to work. When I try to connect to my home network, a box comes up saying, "WPA & WPA2 Personal" and under password, there is a long string of random letters and numbers. When I click connect, it will not connect.

    Any ideas?

I would guess the update to eeebuntu included a kernel update, and a lot of times it is necessary to re-install the driver for your network card, especially Wireless cards.

Do you know if your network uses WPA or WEP? You probably need to delete the current password and type in the correct one,,if you know it. You might want to get on a wired Ethernet enabled machine to access the router page, where you can set or change the password and/or other settings like WPA and WEP.

    AES and TKIP

I tried typing in the correct password several times, but it didn't work. After some digging around on Google, I discovered that it's a known problem. Apparently Ubuntu Netbook Remix expects anything using WPA2 to use AES encryption, but many routers, including mine, use TKIP when they are set to offer combined WPA & WPA2, so I need to set my router to WPA2 only. Hepefully that will solve the problem.

    Thanks for responding.
