Windows inside linux+C2D T6500 doesn't support hardware VT

I am new user of ubuntu and would like to use windows inside linux using some worthwhile VT tools like virtualbox or Vmware. The problem is that my processor is core 2 duo T6500 and from its updated specifications it doesn’t support hardware virtualization!. Does that mean I cannot use VT at all ??. In some website its said that without hardware VT, 64bit OSs cannot be virtual guests, does that mean I can have 32 bit OS guests. I plan to use ubuntu 9.04 64 bit ( jaunty jackalope) and any windows OS (XP or more; 32 bit or 64 bit plz guide)..

    Any help is appreciated

    Dell Studio 17” ( Model 1737); Core 2 Duo T6500; 4 GB RAM ;320 HDD

if you can't enable an option like "virtualization technology" for your processor in your BIOS then you can't install 64-bit guest OS under a hypervisor (vmware esx/esxi), I'm not sure if it applies to something like virtualbox or vmware server

I installed Virtualbox amd64 OSE on ubuntu 9.04 32bit with WIN7 beta as my VM. (i guess its 32 bit didnt check). I am also told that I can call 64 bit clients on a 64 bit platform without VT-x enabled (my processor does not support it anyway). This contradicts to what many ppl hve said. I gotta try it out after I do a fresh install from ubuntu 32bit 2 64bit.

I wouldn't be surprised that it worked with something like vbox or vmware server. VT is definitely required for a hypervisor, which these aren't.

Regardless of a 32 or 64 bit CPU, VMware Server requires a VT-enabled CPU to run a 64 bit guest OS ("VT" on Intel chips, AMD-V on AMD chips.)
