I see the deb package for 9.04 on the Gimp page but will it run on Hardy?

sudo apt-get install gimp
Thats all, don't worry because you are using LTS build

But when I apt-get install it tells me that I am already running the latest version and I am running Gimp 2.4.? I do a bit or graphics work for web sites and photos and would like to run 2.6 or better.
