    Well then.

If I can't find out how to unrar a Windows XP package, may I get some help about Ubuntu running painfully slow?

Firefox runs painstakingly slow. Sometimes, the page seems like it'll never load, sometimes it'll load a bit quicker. YouTube videos stop, repeat, or speed up. Sometimes, the video goes but the audio doesn't. That is the main reason I was wanting to switch back to Windows.

    My comp. (sucking) specs:

    512 MB of RAM.
    72.4 GBs of space.

And I have no idea on my Internet modem but I do believe it isn't just the internet that's slow. I have checked for Viruses\Rootkits and I've ran Computer Janitor.

Things might speed up for you if you disable ipv6:

How to Disable IPV6 in Ubuntu|Ubuntu Geek

You can also disable ipv6 in about:config in Firefox.

    I've already disabled IPV6. It hasn't helped.

That usually works for most folks, but not being an Ubuntu user, I'm not sure what else to suggest. Hopefully, some other Ubuntu users that have had the same issue will step up to the plate and offer some tips.

Which version of Ubuntu are you using?

    What is the output of:
    lspci -v

My guess is that you have an integrated Intel graphics chip. There are many known problems with X and the Intel driver in Ubuntu.

As I thought, integrated Intel graphics card. At this point, you might want to consider upgrading to the Ubuntu 9.10 Beta, which should fix the problem. The final release is due out at the end of the month.

Otherwise, here is a fix to try.

    +1 to the above.
Ubuntu 9.04 has a major issue with the Intel graphics driver, which is fixed in 9.10.
I tried the beta and it runs great on Intel graphics.

Alright, I installed it but now, it's still a bit slow. I love the upgrades and everything, though. But sometimes, my computer freezes to the point that I have to restart it. Why?
