cannot install Real Player on 9.0.4
I'm trying to install Real Player so I can listen to live streams from BBC.
I've achieved it before on another machine but this time I am not able.
This is what I am doing:
Type sudo chmod +x RealPlayer11GOLD.bin
Type sudo "./RealPlayer11GOLD.bin"
Follow prompts. It starts the installer and then I see the error below in the terminal
The realplayer wizard does start but it doesn't work.
Help plsss....
The realplay shell script should export HELIX_LIBS environment
variable and be used to launch RealPlayer.

I think there are easier ways to accomplish this.
There is a .deb package for realplayer on their website.
It is also available in the medibuntu repos.

Thank you for that link. I have downloaded and installed the 64 bit ver as instructed and it appears to be installed.
However, when I click on the BBC website to listen, I get a message that I have to install Real Player.
Seems like some setting to tell the browser that Real Player IS installed ?
Any ideas ?
Thx,

The firefox plugin and the player are separate. I think the plugin is distributed in that binary package though. Maybe not
It's possible you have a different plugin installed and it's causes a conflict. Type about:plugins in the Firefox address bar to check what firefox is using. Ubuntu defaults to the totem plugin, usually.
Can you direct me to the website that's giving you trouble? I just went to BBC - Homepage and I didn't have a problem playing anything without realplayer.
