error 22
hey guys, total novice here and i think i've done something terminal. i had ubuntu installed on my netbbok, which doesn't have a cd drive. it was a dual boot so i could use either ubuntu or windows. but i really didn't know what i was doing with ubuntu so ended up using windows all the time. anyway i got fed up having to select windows everytime i started my netbook up. so i wanted to remove linux. so i selected the partition and delted it. what a mistake that was. anyway now when i start upp i get grub error 22. all i can do is press f2 at the flash screen at the start but i've no idea what to do now. i just want to be able to get windows to load again. any replies need to be in basic step by step instructions as i've read a lot of solutions but i cant understand any of it. thansk for any help.

Welcome to the forums megamelv
Give SuperGrub a try, and replace grub in the MBR of the hard drive with Windows bootloader code.

Hi
Try to fix the MBR. Follow below steps
1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer (set to boot from CD in BIOS).
2. Press a key when you are prompted.
3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. Click the operating system that you want to repair (Vista in this case), and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
7. Once in the command prompt, type exactly Bootrec.exe /FixMbr and then press ENTER. You will see "operation completed successfully."
8. Reboot and set BIOS to boot from the HDD again.Last edited by oz; 10-25-2011 at 02:46 PM. Reason: spam removal
