Fixing Speakers in Xubuntu?
OK. I've installed Xubuntu, but I can't help but complain about watching some YouTube videos without sound. I went up to the sound thing at the top right, and changed the dropdown menu selection in the window that comes up to be to second selection (VIA VIA VT1708 (OSS Mixer)). I edited the volume to be about halfway, and it works: to an extent.
I'm watching a YouTube video, and sound plays for a second: and dies.
Another time, I'm watching a YouTube video, and sound plays perfectly.
No matter how much I refresh the pages, I get no changes whatsoever. I don't know if it's YouTube only or even with sound files on my computer, too, but it needs fixed. I've installed the latest flash player, too.
Help, please!

Try using the alsamixer in a terminal window. For some reason it sometimes works better than the generic gui counterparts.

Actually, I have aumix instead of alsamixer, which basically works the same, I guess, because it opens in Terminal. I change the settings, though, and I don't get any changes in results. It appears to do good at changing volume, though. Any other ideas?

I was just playing with the Xubuntu mixer about 30 minutes ago and Youtube wasn't playing any audio.
I had to enable the "Mix" control and turn it up (it was set at zero by default) in order to get sound.

I can't find a mix control. '^^ I've got the 9.0.4 version, by the way.
