    [SOLVED] Programs keep crashing.

Well, the title says it all.

I was playing with themes today, checking them out, mostly from Gnome-look.org. I tried Mac4Lin, which is when the trouble started. I started by installing it without giving the install script su privelages, it went right, so I installed Mac4Lin and gave the script su privelages. It made my system quite unstable after about two hours (all the script does is move the files to where they need to go, such as the login manager display). So, I used the uninstall script under su. And now, I have applications crashing sporadically, after removing any trace of the custom themes I had on my computer through the custom channels.

I also installed Avast! Linux today, and have since removed that, to no avail. Just now, I had Rhythmbox die on me.

So, is there anything I can do, except for reinstall? That will be my last resort.

Launch Rhythmbox from terminal and show the output of its crash.
And it might be good to know what has changed with both the installation scripts.

It'll take a while, I have to do this in pieces.

Rhythm Box didn't give me any useable interface, and gave me a segmentation fault. Firefox tried to load, and, yet again, gave a segmentation fault as well. I'll check out those scripts, and post back, as well.

Got opera up, fortunately. Here's the contents of the install script (I'm posting it, as I don't know what to look for):

    Code:

I ran both under normal, and SU. Everything went wrong after the SU run. I posted the scripts so that there can be a fresh pair of eyes. It only appears to have installed and removed some themes for programs.

EDIT: System is dead, I think. I logged in, went to the terminal, and it barfed a whole bunch of error messages twice in a row.

    I'd reinstall.
But "rm -rf ./usr " looks rather dangerous since if the working dir is / it removes ALL the usr folder contents.

Hope that helps. To bad to hear about your loss.

Oh, man. Well, I'll perform an autopsy, and send an email to the Mac4Lin author sometime. Thanks!
