Ubuntu Audio Problem
I just installed Ubuntu Karmic Koala and whenever I play a video or music, the audio fades out until I can't hear anything. I have to unplug my headphones and plug them back in, then play the song again in order for it to work but then it just fades out again. I just have headphones, no speakers. I've tried it with other headphones and it does the same thing. What do I do?

Does it do this with all programs?
It sounds like theres a "Normalize" or "Compression" function at work and it's set low. Honestly, I don't know if this exists in the sound server settings or not, but some programs have it and maybe your sound card as well?
I'm thinking you could also have a bad capacitor on the sound card, but I don't find that likely if the sound was fine before installing Karmic.
If this happens with all programs, then please show me the outputs of:
lspci -nnk | grep -ia2 audio
aplay -l
(that's APLAY -L in lower case) Thanks.

And let the questions fly.
While it's a slightly different card, it appears to be the same problem.
Edit:
Wasn't really a "bug report," though I get the feeling from the google search that the MPC51 is known for this problem. I didn't find any solutions.Last edited by D-cat; 11-01-2009 at 07:34 PM.
