    Skype help

I Just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop that dual boots with Vista. I attempted to install Skype.

I tried all the Ubuntu downloads but none of them worked. I kept getting the error of
Wrong architecture amd64, or wrong architecture "something else"

But my laptop is actually running AMD64 so the download should work right? can someone help me?

I also downloaded ubuntu 9.04 on my Ps3 and i had the exact same problem on my ps3. so if anyone has suggestions for this as well. thanks

you probably installed the 32 bit version of Ubuntu, even if you have a 64 bit processor if you installed the 32 bit version you'll get that error.

To get around it, open a terminal and go to the directory where the .deb is then run this command

    sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture PACKAGENAME
    Bodhi 1.3 & Bodhi 1.4 using E17
Dell Studio 17, Intel Graphics card, 4 gigs of RAM, E17
