Eclipse-cdt in Ubuntu 9.10?
I can't seem to find the eclipse-cdt package in the repositories for Ubuntu 9.10 and it Eclipse can't create a C++ project by default. Any ideas where this package is or am I just not looking in the right place?

Eclipse CDT
Eclipse has its own method of adding and updating components like the CDT, so it was somewhat confusing to have some eclipse components provided through Ubuntu/Synaptic and others through eclipse itself.
Personally, I have had fairly mixed results when trying to use the Ubuntu provided version of eclipse. It is supposed to be faster ( using gcj ) than using the SUN JVM, but it also seems to introduce instabilities and incompatibilities. I try out new versions, but usually end up removing them and using a version from eclipse.org.
If you want to add CDT (and other components) to the version of Eclipse in Ubuntu 9.10, ( which is Galileo )...
- select the "Install New Software" option of the help menu.
- click the "Add" button next to the "Work with" drop-down
- Put "Galileo" into the "Name" field - see below
- Put the Galileo release URL into the "Location" field
- Press the "OK" button to add this repository location
- Select "Galileo ... " in the "Work with" field
- Press the twisty to the left of the "Programming Languages" category
- Tick the "Eclipse C/C++ Development Tools" check-box ( should be Version 6.0.0 )
- Press the "Next" button and then "Finish" Button to install.
Galileo release URL: The Eclipse framework is released annually as a collected
and tested repository. Each release has a different name relating to celestial objects, so far moons of planets in the solar system. You should use the repository URL for the release you are using. The name is made up of "download.eclipse.org" and "/releases/galileo" in this case, but would obviously change if you used a different version of eclipse.
Good Luck

Hi everyone,
I have followed the instruction from above, but I have failed so far, because I get following error-report:
An error occurred while installing the items
session context wasprofile=PlatformProfile, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.provisional.p2. engine.phases.Install, operand=null --> [R]org.eclipse.cvs 1.0.400.v201002111343, action=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.touchpoint. eclipse.actions.InstallBundleAction).
The artifact file for osgi.bundle,org.eclipse.cvs,1.0.400.v201002111343 was not found.)
Could anyone give me any advice? (Of course a step-to-step instruction would be the best )
Greetings, Martin
